MEET CHRISTIAN DOTSON

Formative Years

Since his youth, Christian's passion for design and engineering has been unmistakable. As a youth, he assembled bicycles and radio controlled cars in his bedroom and meticulously restored & maintained his first car, a 1970 VW Karmann Ghia. He apprenticed at a local paint & body/car audio shop, honing his skills in

high-end competition level car audio systems before graduating from high school.

Education & Beyond

Christian graduated from the transportation design program from the prestigious College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, MI.

Christian's early career began at General Motors (GM) in 1997, as part of the Hummer H2 concept design team, contributing to the ambitious project of adding a civilian friendly vehicle to the Hummer line-up.

Further honing his craft, he graduated from Wyotech's renowned Street Rod Fabrication Program. Following his graduation, Christian returned to Wyotech, this time as an instructor, while simultaneously starting Dotson Design as a consultancy. His unique blend of academic knowledge and hands-on experience has made him a respected figure in the field.

Christian continued to build his portfolio at several top-tier custom shops from Colorado to California, and returned to his home state of Texas in 2009. His work further expanded his expertise, allowing him to work on a diverse range of custom builds and restorations, as well as several opportunities to participate in Discovery Channel's "Overhaulin'" and "Biker Build-Off".  These positions provided Christian with invaluable experience and industry connections. He was heavily involved in the design and fabrication of the 2005 Goodguys Street Rod of the Year, the 2016 Ridler award winner, as well as many other award winning vehicles. Two of his personal motorcycle builds received the prestigious "America's Most Beautiful Motorcycle" awards at the Grand National Roadster Show, one in 2007, the other in 2009. They both currently reside in the Haas Moto Museum in Dallas, TX.
